It's that time again. Welcome new participants, and thanks to everyone who posts or reads at [livejournal.com profile] stargate_xing!

I'd just like to remind everyone to keep up with the tagging, and not to hesitate to ask if you need one that hasn't been created yet. To that end, I've added a .tagrequest tag; please use it.

Every post should have at least one dot tag (.ficpost, .ficrec, .help, et cetera) and at least one of the .sga, .sg1, or .sgu tags. Beyond that, please tag for every other major crossover involved.

I'd also like to recommend the [livejournal.com profile] passintotheblue comm, for those who specifically want crossovers between the Stargate shows. Those don't count for the purposes of [livejournal.com profile] stargate_xing, but they are fun to read, and that community doesn't see nearly enough traffic.

Thank you, and have a great 2010!

Hi! Looks like it's time for your friendly neighborhood mostly-hands-off moderator to stick her nose back in to say hello!

First, I'd like to thank all of you who've been posting here; it's a great resource for fans with a particular interest in the Stargate subsection of the crossover pool, and I've really enjoyed reading the stories.

However, I have noticed a slippage in the usage of tags in recent months. I understand that it takes a few extra clicks to add them on, or to comment on the latest modpost to ask for new ones to be created, but it makes the community much easier to search and more useful to fans discovering the community for the first time when they are consistently applied. Please take that extra moment when you post; I'd really prefer not to have to take a more active role in moderating around here.

To clarify - every single post should have at least one of the dot tags from the top of the list of tags, and preferably more if you're posting fic (.ficpost, and either .sga or .sg1 depending on the base fandom for the crossover, plus the outside fandom(s) you're crossing with).

Thank you again. And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming!

Hello all, it's your friendly neighborhood moderator, stopping by for a bit of spring cleaning. Take a look, let me know what you think.

First, I've reordered the tag system in a hopefully more useful manner:
http://community.livejournal.com/stargate_xing/tag/

FYI, every single post should have at least one of the dot tags from the top of the list, and preferably two if you're posting fic (.ficpost, and either .sga or .sg1 depending on the base fandom for the crossover). If the cross-tag you're looking for isn't among the other tags in the lower sections of the list, just comment on a .modpost and I'll take care of it ASAP.

Second, I've switched the theme to one that's hopefully a little easier to navigate. Again, let me know if you have any questions or comments.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming!

Hello all,

I've generally been a fairly low-maintenance moderator here in [livejournal.com profile] stargate_xing, just tagging fics once a week or so and posting a story of my own here or there. We're not high traffic, but we do see a decent flow; thank you to all of you who keep writing, reading, and reviewing!

My question today: would it be worth it to revive the "challenge prompt" feature? Would you consider writing for one, and if so, how often should the prompt change?

Please comment and let me know-- and keep up the good work!

I've been a terrible mod as far as linking things to the memories goes, or remembering to read every day with all else going on in my life. By contrast, you've all been wond'rous community members, filling this space with plenty of good things to read.

In your honor, I have spent the last few hours on a mad tagging spree, that current and future readers may better be able to find that which they especially wish to see. The current tags list is as follows:

One week and one day until the new seasons of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis begin airing!

In the meantime - for those of you in the US with cable TV - there are two all-day marathons on the Sci-Fi Channel, today and tomorrow, to revisit the last several episodes of seasons 8 and 1, respectively. I know what I'll be watching tonight and tomorrow night. *grin*

Here is a link to the schedule of just what is airing when:
http://gateworld.net/schedule_us.shtml

Happy watching!

A reminder: Challenges will remain open indefinitely, though I will continue to post new ones. Whenever you post a challenge response, please identify which challenge you are responding to, and I will link it to the memory section appropriately.

#002 - Jumping to Conclusions

Thank [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha for the idea; I've been too busy to think of a new one myself. A new job will do that to a person. =)

It's SciFi Friday again! Four weeks to go until the new season starts!

According to Gateworld.net, when the season begins again the SciFi Channel (in the US) will be airing all fourteen episodes of Firefly, in their original intended order, before the regular programming block. The schedule will look like this:

7:00 PM -- Firefly
8:00 PM -- Stargate SG-1
9:00 PM -- Stargate Atlantis
10:00 PM -- Battlestar Galactica

Talk about Must See TV. =)

In honor of SciFi Friday, I choose today to post our first challenge.

As this is not a challenge community, I intend these to serve as an idea-prompt, not a requirement. Feel free to keep on writing or reccing any other Stargate crossovers in the meantime. =)

#001 - Quantum Mirror

Yes, the hoary old Quantum Mirror idea. The SGC has determined that these lead to alternate realities ... who knows what a team might find on the other side? Or discover in relation to who built them and why?

Challenges will run for two weeks. Enjoy ... and feel free to comment with other challenge ideas for me to use in future!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Stargate Crossfandom Community!

Stargate_Xing is for just what it says - crossovers involving the Stargate universe. That means that each story posted here or linked here must crossover some character or other significant aspect of the Stargate Movie, the Stargate SG-1 TV series, or the Stargate Atlantis spin-off with another world.

Check the info page for posting rules, and have fun!
